During a busy event many of the delegates attending conferences at The Hayes, High Leigh and Belsey Bridge appreciate the opportunity for quiet prayer, meditation and reflection during their day to better equip them to get the most from the organised activities.
To ensure everyone who attends an event at one of our venues has the space and the time they need, we’ve created several quiet areas for delegates to use. One of our spaces is the Prayer Labyrinth at The Hayes in Derbyshire. The Labyrinth has been designed to facilitate spiritual journeys and allow delegates to contemplate the deeper things in life.
Located in a quiet area of the site near the Chapel, the Labyrinth is the perfect space to take a few moments out of your day for prayer and reflection. As the name suggests, the space is laid out like a maze with a path leading participants on a journey through the Labyrinth. A water feature provides gentle and relaxing ambient sounds to further enhance the experience of the Labyrinth, and benches have been placed among the trees and flowers for you to use.
Although this is a modern version, the ritual has been around for years with examples found in churches across Europe. One of the most famous is located in Chartres Cathedral in northern France. Beautifully laid out in a circular pattern, the Labyrinth still attracts pilgrims to this day.
An important part of any conference, space to think, to meditate and to relax will help an event to achieve its true potential. To find out more about our conference venues and the features they offer, explore our site or get in touch with a member of the team.
