Ensuring that our conference venues are as accessible as possible to all those who want to use them is a priority for the team here at CCT. This inclusivity and accessibility is also important to the groups and organisations that use our venues, all of whom want to ensure that every one of the members can attend the event regardless of ability.
The most recent venue to receive an accessibility upgrade was High Leigh. Set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, the venue is the perfect choice for groups looking for an accessible conference centre within easy reach of the capital.
One of the most noticeable changes that visitors to High Leigh will see when they next use the conference centre is that key card readers have been installed on many of the venue’s external doors. Key card readers are also installed on guests’ bedroom doors, and the same cards will open both the external and internal doors, making it easy for delegates to move around High Leigh. This will help to improve security at the venue and ensure that delegates feel happy and safe when using the space.
To try and ensure High Leigh is as accessible as possible, we’ve recently upgraded the stair lift link between the venue’s restaurant and Yew Tree Hall. This updated stair lift will make it even easier for those with reduced mobility to move around the space.
Another step we’ve taken to help improve the accessibility of High Leigh is to make more external doors available for use. These doors have been fitted with automated systems, creating better and easier access for wheelchair users to many parts of the venue. There is now an automated door leading directly out onto the lawn and delegates can also now access their accommodation from various points in the car park without having to go through the main entrance.
These improvements should help to make it easier for all delegates using our High Leigh site to navigate their way around. Incredibly important for guests with reduced mobility, as well as organisers looking to run an inclusive and accessible event, these upgrades will make the centre better for everyone.
