Coffee is the essential fuel of conferences, away days and teambuilding trips. Across our three centres, we serve an estimated 2.5 million cups of coffee a year, so it’s important to us to know that our coffee is doing good – and we don’t just mean keeping your team awake.
We are proud to serve Paddy & Scott’s Lunch Box Coffee in our centres. Introduced first at High Leigh, and then by the end of the year it will be available in The Hayes and Belsey Bridge.
We’re all aware of how important it is to make sure our activities are as responsible and sustainable as possible, so we sought out a Fairtrade coffee, but Paddy & Scott’s goes even further than simply being Fairtrade.
They own their own coffee farm in Kenya, in partnership with a family who have been growing coffee for generations. This gives a fairer price to the growers, reducing the distance between the people who grow the coffee and the people who drink it.
Ruiga Prima School in Meru, Kenya. Located 6km from the farm, this school is attended by many of the coffee farm workers' children.
And why is it called Lunch Box Coffee? Because every bag of this coffee buys a meal for a child in a coffee-growing community. So while we know that conferences run on coffee, these children’s school days are fuelled with good, nutritious food that helps them to concentrate, have fun and succeed.
Each year we get through 21,000 bags of Lunch Box Coffee across our centres. Care to help us raise that number? If you hold a conference, church away day or meeting with us, your guests will enjoy free tea and coffee throughout their stay.
With thanks to Paddy & Scott's for the use of their photos.
