Are you thinking of taking your youth group on a retreat? Here are some reasons why you should.
In 2019 a survey was taken at 12 different camps in the USA to gather young people’s impressions on their retreat experience. According to their findings, most attendees had “overwhelmingly positive experiences”. At least 90% said they “had fun, learned more about God, and tried something new”.
As a youth leader, your priority is to provide resources that help your youth members grow in their relationship with God. It is also important for them to spend time with other people their age and have fun. Routine “youth nights” are a wonderful place to see these things happen. However, having space and time to prolong those amazing worship evenings or play a wide game in surroundings that you don’t readily have available can be invaluable.
For teenagers, a youth retreat is something to look forward to and work towards. Being away from everyday life in an environment that is all about God can bring important growth in teenagers. This is also a time to get to know your youth better.
Here at Christian Conference Trust, we welcome Christians of all denominations. Youth groups are very well catered to at both our conference centres. At The Hayes in Derbyshire, you will have access to an indoor sports hall with 5-aside football nets, badminton, and basketball hoops, as well as our outdoor sports field. At High Leigh, you can enjoy 40 acres of lawns and woodland, as well as a 5-aside football field and indoor games room. In our meeting rooms, we provide screens and other audio/visual equipment; so it’s as simple as plugging in and playing. You are free to enjoy hot drinks all day as part of an all-inclusive price. Once you’ve finished a busy day of fun activities and worship, toast some marshmallows over our campfires.
It has been shown that a young person's get-away has great benefits. Not only will you and your youth make life-changing memories but you will come away having learnt more about God and each other.
