High Leigh has officially launched as a Partner-In-Action with leading Christian conservation charity, A Rocha UK at a special event held in April 2023. We spoke with A Rocha UK's Chief Executive, Andy Atkins about the event and their mission as an environmental charity.

Today we planted an apricot tree. What's that about? It symbolizes two things. One is the glory of God's creation and the ability for creation to renew itself. We very much believe in a God who created it all. It also symbolizes a partnership; working together to look after God’s creation here at High Leigh. As your Chief Executive, John Heasman described it, this is a bit like the marriage service. However, it's only the beginning of what we hope is a lifelong partnership of working together to care for God's creation.
A Rocha UK focuses on facilitating and equipping Christians to look after God's creation. We do that by running programs like Eco Church through the Partner-In-Action scheme, which is why we’re here today. We work with Christian organisations to help manage the conservation of their land. We also run the Wild Christian scheme, which is free to join. It gives individuals encouragement and tips on what to do in their own homes and communities. A Rocha UK has a love for nature and a desire to see Christians care for it.
