A place to disconnect from the busyness of life

September 2024

"Coming to places like these enables you to disconnect from everyday life. They allow you to detox from your phones, your computers and other things that distract you." We spoke with Sister Ellah Kandi, Event Organiser at Emmanu'-EL Apostolic Church, who have been visiting Christian Conference Trust venues for over 15 years. She talks about what getting away for a conference provides that weekly church services don't.

What is the purpose of your conference?

The purpose of this conference is to come away as a group, have communion with God and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's brilliant that Christian Conference Trust provide the premises that we need to be able to engage with God.

As a gospel choir, we're very busy, so staying at a serene venue allows us space to grow spiritually. Then, when we go back to our communities, we're able to make a positive impact.

Why come away for a conference when you have weekly church services?

I think coming away makes a massive difference because when we are at our own churches, you're going to go back home and go back on your phone.

Christian Conference Trust venues provide the space to be able to escape from the busyness of life, meditate and reconnect. I always liken it to a fuel station; you go and get filled up for your journey. That's what these premises do for us.
