Do you have a long history with The Hayes? Many of you have been visiting our beautiful Derbyshire venue for decades. Whether you’ve been coming for years or only visited once, you will have noticed that The Hayes is on a constant path of improvement. From refurbished rooms to upgraded furniture and equipment, here are 6 things we’re updating at The Hayes.
1. Revamped walkway
If you’ve walked up to the Chapel or Derbyshire Hall via the walkway, you will have walked through the hallway adjacent to the Butterley Hall. This hallway has recently undergone a refurbishment, with a new colour scheme and a brand-new visual display highlighting our biodiversity projects. This display spans 20 metres with 5 large frames proudly explaining our efforts to look after God’s creation!
2. Upgraded Outdoor Patio Spaces
This month, we plan to add 6 new slabbed patio areas for our picnic benches outside the Bar Lounge. The door leading out to this patio will be replaced with a brand-new sliding door to help improve accessibility. This revamped patio area will be perfect for taking in the beautiful surroundings, enjoying a quiet break, or catching up with fellow attendees. It’s all part of our mission to create more inviting outdoor spots for reflection and connection.

3. Fresh Look for the Bar
In December, we reupholstered a number of the chairs in the Bar Lounge to bring a fresh new colour scheme. Whether you’re unwinding after a busy day or connecting with others over a coffee, the Bar Lounge is the place to be!
4. Heating and Cooling Upgrades
In the coming months, we will see new, state-of-the-art heating and air conditioning systems installed in the Butterley Halls and Derbyshire Suite. These updates are designed to keep you comfortable all year round, whether you’re meeting during the summer heat or a chilly winter day.

5. Refurbished Toilets in the Main House
By February 2025, the Main House will unveil completely refurbished ladies’ toilets. We are ripping out the old toilets and giving it a top-to-bottom revamp. This long-anticipated update focuses on both style and practicality, ensuring comfort for all our visitors.
6. Main Conference Hall Renovations
The Main Conference Hall has undergone several changes over the past year such as brand-new 86” 4K screens, a refurbished back wall and a new heating system. However, we have even more refurbishments planned. This includes brand-new doors and improved accessibility features.
