We want everyone to have the best possible experience when using our website, so we’ve introduced a brand-new Accessibility Widget! This handy tool allows users to customise how they view and interact with the site, making it more accessible for people with visual impairments, dyslexia, cognitive challenges, or those who simply prefer a different layout.
To access the Accessibility Widget, navigate to the bottom right of your screen and click the icon.
The Accessibility Widget.
Here’s a breakdown of what you can do with the widget and as we go along, feel free to try it out...
Struggling with text blending into the background? This feature lets you adjust the contrast levels on the website, making content stand out more clearly. Whether you need a subtle boost or a high-contrast mode, this option improves readability for users with low vision or colour blindness.
If small text makes reading difficult, you can easily enlarge it with this tool. Choose from a range of text sizes to find the most comfortable setting for you. This is particularly helpful for those with visual impairments who need clearer, more readable text.
Adjusting the space between lines of text can make reading much easier. By increasing the line height, users with dyslexia, cognitive difficulties, or vision impairments can avoid crowded text and follow along more smoothly.
Increasing the spacing between letters, words, or lines can help prevent text from appearing jumbled. This is especially useful for users with dyslexia or vision impairments who need better separation between characters for easier reading.
Bright colours can be overwhelming for some users. With this option, you can tone down the saturation levels, making the site more comfortable to navigate. It can also help users with colour blindness distinguish different elements more clearly.
Too many visuals can sometimes be distracting. This feature allows users to hide non-essential images, creating a cleaner, more text-focused layout. This can be especially helpful for individuals using screen readers or those who process information more easily without visual clutter.
This feature changes the font to Open Dyslexic, a typeface specifically designed to make letters more distinct. This small change can make a big difference in reducing reading difficulties.
For users who struggle to see or track the standard cursor, this option enlarges it, making navigation much simpler. A larger pointer is also helpful for those with motor impairments who may find it difficult to locate or click on smaller elements.
Need content in another language? This tool offers quick and easy translation, allowing non-native speakers or multilingual users to access the website in their preferred language.
Our new Accessibility Widget is designed to make browsing easier, more comfortable, and more inclusive for everyone. Simply click on the widget to explore the settings and tailor the site to your needs. We’re excited to offer these features and hope they make a positive impact.
