High Leigh is embarking on an exciting new chapter in its long history of serving the Christian community. With over a century of welcoming church groups and Christian organisations, the centre is set to enhance its facilities with the construction of a new state-of-the-art meeting hall.

Since opening its doors in 1922, High Leigh has been a sanctuary for Christian fellowship, learning, and worship. Originally built in 1853 and acquired by the devoted Christian banker Robert Barclay in 1871, the estate was sold to Christian Conference Trust in 1922. Over the decades, the venue has flourished thanks to investment from The Trust and the faithful generosity of the Christian community, enabling the construction of new accommodation and meeting spaces.
In 2022, the Tower was opened after reconstruction thanks to the generous gifts from our Christian community.
In response to increasing demand, over £2 million is being invested into a brand-new, 320-seater meeting hall, set to replace Yew Tree Hall. This new facility will allow the centre to host larger groups, fulfilling its mission to provide exceptional spaces for Christian gatherings. With cutting-edge audio-visual equipment, soundproof dividers to create two smaller halls (seating 200 and 100 respectively), and eco-friendly features including solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and air-source heat pumps, the hall is designed to meet the needs of guests in the next season of Christian conferencing while caring for God’s creation.

While construction is underway, the fully equipped Garden Suite, with countryside views, will serve as a replacement meeting space for Yew Tree during 2025, ensuring High Leigh continues to welcome guests without interruption.
The new hall is scheduled to open by January 2026, with the old Yew Tree Hall being transformed into a welcoming foyer and breakout area. A new al fresco dining terrace above the Yew Tree cloister will further enhance the guest experience.

John Heasman, CEO of Christian Conference Trust, said: “This exciting project marks a significant milestone for High Leigh. Thanks to the generosity of a Christian benefactor, we can meet the growing needs of our groups, providing them with a modern and sustainable space to gather, worship, and grow in faith in our Lord. We look forward to welcoming even more guests into this special place in the years to come.”

This significant investment underscores High Leigh’s commitment to providing a home for Christian fellowship and ministry. With its rich history, beautiful surroundings, and enhanced facilities, High Leigh will remain a place where lives are transformed, and communities are strengthened in faith.
