Why church and community events are important to the christian faith

Events are a way to bring people together. To gather, share, listen and encourage.

For Christians, gathering has always been an essential part of our faith. The word ‘church’ comes from the Greek New Testament word ecclesia, meaning ‘assembly’ or ‘gathering’. Not individuals but a body, a community. People getting together, breaking bread together, sharing life together – that’s what we were made for.

In recent years meeting in-person has been often impossible or at best extremely limited. But now we have the chance to do it again: to eat, sing, and laugh together. To swap stories and struggles, and turn strangers into friends. Let’s not settle for isolation and endless video calls. Instead: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about trying to plan a Christian event yourself. We’re here to help you think about what you want to achieve and how to make it happen. Download our Christian event planning guide to get started.
